Our wheel thrown pottery is made locally in Pulborough by skilled potter, Tina Bowbrick, and wood-fired in a home-built kiln.
When nearly dry each piece is simply decorated, allowing the kiln flames and ash to give each piece its own unique character.
Some pieces have slips made from locally dug clays, which are allowed to dry and are then glazed using home-made recipes. Many of these are made using wood ash reclaimed from the kiln, washed, sieved and mixed with other ingredients.
When fully dry the pieces are fired in a ‘fastfire’ kiln for 18 to 21 hours until we reach temperatures between 1300 – 1310°C.
Please note that each piece is unique and patterns and colours will vary. Small marks and changes in shape will be due to the natural methods during creation and are not considered as product flaws, but rather add to the individual character of each piece.
All pieces are dishwasher, oven and microwave safe (however, moving a cold bowl from the fridge directly to a hot oven for example could cause breakage).
